Responsible for project procurement, project planning and project execution including inputs in projects. Following were my major assignments –
Project Director, General Consultancy for World Bank funded 300 km Eastern Freight Corridor from Khurja to Bhaupur valued at US $ 3 billion on Indian Railways
Project Advisor, Traffic, Financial and O&M studies for 2100 km North South and 1900 km East West Freight Corridors on Indian Railways
Project Advisor, Survey and Design of JICA funded 300 km Rewari-Ajmer section of Western Freight Corridor
Project Advisor, Design and Project Management of Nathivaripalli-Vellikallu new line including 2 tunnels on Indian Railways
Poject Director, Bid Process Management – Gauge conversion of Ajmer Rewari Section of North Western Railway (300km)
Project Director, Project Management Consultancy for ADB funded additional line on East Coast section of Indian Railways (70 km)

On penal of Arbitrators of NHAI and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. Completed Two arbitrations on disputes between Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and their contractors / suppliers

Advisor, M/s Nagarjuna construction Company (with turn over of US $ 1 billion per annum) for Railway related Projects
Responsible for project procurement, project planning and project execution. Planned execution of double line work from Habibganj to Vidisha valued at US $ 28 million.
2003 – 2005
Advisor, Railway Projects with M/s D.S.Construction and completed the first ever BOT project on Indian Railways, of 60 km gauge conversion from Viramgam to Mehsana costing approx US $ 20 million.
Consultant to UIC for Railway systems in Middle East.
Chairman of Technical Advisory Council for Construction of tunnels on Katra-Qazigund section of rail connectivity to Kashmir in India by Konkan Railway Corporation

CEO of Indian Railways (Chairman of Indian Railways Board). Planning, execution and monitoring of projects of all disciplines, worth more than US $ 1 billion, were also my responsibility apart from that of finances and operation of the Railway System.
2001 – 2002
Worked as Chairman of Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation during the year 2001-02. Finalised negotiations for World Bank loan for Rail component of Mumbai Urban Transport Project valued at approx. US $ 1 billion.
2000 – 2001
As Chief Executive of Engineering discipline of Indian Railways (Member Engineering, Indian Railway Board), I was responsible for planning, organisation, execution and monitoring of all civil engineering projects with an annual budget of approx. US $ 1 billion.
2000-2001
Worked as Chairman of IRCON International, with an annual turnover of US $ 200 million. Finalised MOU with Malaysian Government for a $ 2 billion construction contract for IRCON on barter basis against import of Palm oil into India.
Worked on the Board of Directors of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation as a nominee Director of Ministry of Railways.
1997 – 2000
CEO (General Manager) of South Eastern Railway, responsible for whole business i.e. operation, maintenance and finances of the Railway apart from execution of projects. Monitoring of all projects of Zonal railway costing US$ 150 million approx.

Chief Executive of Engineering discipline of Central Railway, I was responsible for planning, execution and monitoring of Projects with annual budget of US $ 100 million.

Chief Executive (Divisional Manager) of one of the largest Divisions of Indian Railways, employing 40,000 people.

Worked as Senior Specialist on an International assignment with Iraqi Railways for Project Management of construction of new Railroad and as adviser to the Railway Authority.

Worked in Indian Railways in various capacities from Chief Engineer to Assistant Engineer for Design, Construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of all civil engineering assets on Rail Roads including Rail tracks, Bridges, Service buildings & Residential colonies.
A Civil Engineer, have spent 39 years and achieved the highest position of Chairman and CEO of Indian Railways, one of the largest railroad systems of the world. For more than 30 years, was responsible for maintenance, construction and rehabilitation of all Civil Engineering assets including Permanent Way. While with I.R., also worked for 8 years as a Manager for complete railway systems, with responsibility for maintenance, rehabilitation and construction of assets, operation, marketing, HR and finances of the system.
Was Director on the Board of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, and Chairman of IRCON International (Indian Railway Construction Company) and of Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation. Was Chairman of tunnel advisory committee for Konkan Railway Corporation. Gained International experience while working with Iraqi Railways for 3 ½ years.
After superannuating from Indian Railways, I have been working for last 12 years as an advisor to multinational consulting companies in India as also major construction companies engaged in Railroad and Metro Projects. At present Advisor to CDM Smith, with whom I have been working since 2004.
Have worked as counsel in arbitrations as also as an Arbitrator for major organizations.
Has provided technical consulting services to International organisation (UIC), and PSU (KRCL),
Has provided consulting services to Construction Companies (D S Construction Co. & Nagarjuna Construction Co.) and Consulting Companies (Wilbur Smith Associates / CDM Smith and AYESA) as regards market entry strategy in to the Railways Construction / consultancy business for the company, including project procurement, project planning, project and project execution as also provided HR inputs for their projects Has worked as counsel for a consortium of International consulting companies for their arbitration with their client PSU Has worked as Arbitrator – sole or as a member of Arbitration panel – as a nominee of the PSU’s

After joining Indian Railways as Assistant Engineer, rose to the highest level as Chairman of Indian Railway Board – Chairman and CEO – of one of the largest employer in the world.
Was given ‘Eminent Engineer of the year’ award by Institution of Engineers (India) in the year 2001
Has been advising International and National consulting and construction companies for execution of major Railway Pojects for last 12 years. Has been involved in more than a dozen major Projects, half of which have been completed.
